December 1930 to Frank Morse.

On his Post Office Drawer
"Y" stationary, from Ventura, CA, Erle writes about the
Chinese, his stories and where he once lived:
Ventura, California
Dear Mr. Morse:-
Thanks very much for your
letter of the 8th. I was very interested in the little article on the
Forbidden city which you enclosed. Did you get the material in China by
any chance?
Have never been to Cina
myself but have mingled with many of the Chinese here & speak a
little of the Cantonese dialect.
Would be glad to get
your reactions to my stories if you'd care to drop me a line any time
& would

appreciate criticism more than
praise.
I, too, lived in the
Faulkner section. Was first initiated into the world at a house on Dale
Street then lived in a big box-like house right on top of Baker Hill -
24 Bervers Ave, for several years.
