Olivas Adobe Heats up with New Supernatural Events!Leave It To Cleaver

A classic tale of terror written by ghost hunter, lecturer and paranormal investigator Richard Senate. Based upon a true story. This tale of terror is narrated with sound effects by artist John Anthony Miller.

The historic 1847 Adobe home has become a hotbed of new paranormal activity with all sorts of odd things reported. Many of the witnesses are visitors and most of the phantom events have taken place in the daytime. Your humble reporter has learned of the following strange experiences:

ITEM: A family touring the site heard the old 1876 piano in the parlor playing all by itself. NOTE: The piano isn’t a player piano and such things have been reported in the past many years ago. The tune it slowly plucked out was both haunting and mysterious.

ITEM: A family being given a tour of the house was shocked to see the apparition of a little boy dressed in a children’s brown suit of the 1880s in the first bedroom. The figure ran away as if he was surprised and vanished. History records that one son of the builder, Jose Epitacio del Refugio Olivas was born in 1847 and is believed to have died in childhood. Is Jose the Boy in Brown? This is the first time such an image has been reported.

ITEM: A man stopped his car on the road and was walking in front of the old adobe about 10:30 at night and claims to have seen a light on the front balcony. When he watched the thing moved down the balcony from east to west. He saw it was the image of a little girl wearing a glowing white night dress. When she suddenly vanished the house was plunged into darkness. Mr. Senate recommends anyone interested in ghosts should visit the site and be on the look out for any of the ghosts reported at the old place.

POINT OF INTEREST: For many years the house was haunted by a woman in a black dress. She has not been seen for the last three years if not four. What happened to her and why are the phantom children not supervised?

NEW DVD ON GLEN TAVERN PROGRESSES

John Anthony Miller, artist, bookseller and co-producer of The Ray Bradbury Theatre and Film Festival (www.raybradburyfestival.com) is now editing the DVD on the recent investigation of the haunted Glen Tavern Inn that myself and my students did last month. This feature will have some of the ghostly images taken on that day and EVP's captured at the site by students and even some on John's camcorder. It’s an exciting project and one that will more DVDs made at future investigations. The completed hour long DVD will be offered for sale in the near future. Watch this web site for more information. It will be reasonably priced for all to be able to acquire. I will also sign the DVD as will Mr. Miller. The students will also be given credit and without them the DVD would not have been possible to put into production. (Note: We will be putting a video sampler on the pod cast site soon, so check that out as well.)

NEW MAY TOURS AND EVENTS.

May 3 (Saturday) Haunted Ventura Tour. A City of Ventura tour attempts to identify the ghostly Lady in Red who haunts Ventura ’s City Hall. New stories say she was the wife of a County Sheriff who discovered her husband was cheating on him. She confronted her cheating husband and then, using his revolver, shot herself. May 10 (Saturday) Cemetery Park Tour.

Another city tour of the old Cemetery Park off Poli Street . Yes, 2,000 dead still rest here but some are not at peace.

May 11 (Sunday) La Purisma Mission Tour.

Special Tour. Investigation at the Lompoc site of the old Spanish mission. Some say it’s the most haunted mission of them all with from nine to twenty four ghosts. Mr. Senate has seen three ghosts here himself. Bring recording tools as many spirits have been heard. This was the site of a deadly 1824 rebellion and battle. A Phantom Bookshop Tour. John and Katie were recently broad sided by a drunken driver who ran a stop sign at 50 mph while traveling home down East Main Street on April 18th at 10:30 PM after a dinner to celebrate John's birthday. It was a horrific accident and they are still recovering from their ordeal. Their Dodge Caravan (and beloved ghostly traveling machine was totaled). Thankfully they will recover from their injuries! But just remember! Life is fragile and life can be cut off suddenly! Tell someone you love them NOW while you can in this life!

Annotated Lizzie Borden Book for Sale .

Richard and Debbie have taken one of the Lizzie Borden Books and annotated it with special comments and insights. They have included color pictures and comments on their discoveries. This book will soon be placed on Ebay but for more information contact The Phantom Bookshop to place a bid on this one of a kind item.

Haunted Book at the Phantom Bookshop!

Strange things have been happening at the Phantom Bookshop - such a books flying off the shelves and a mysterious apparition of a woman (seen twice by John Anthony Miller in two fleeting appearances). The owner of the shop asked Debbie to look into the mystery and discovered one of the books (the one that flew off the shelf) is haunted. It’s a curious book about vampires (Vampires and Vampirsm by Dudley Wright published in England in 1924), long out of print in this hardback edition. The owner had purchased the volume along with a collection of occult works from an odd man selling occult and metaphysical book years ago. The psychic felt that a strange collector, a woman from the late 1920s owned the book and was fascinated about vampires. She picked up the book and got the image of a woman in wire-rimmed glasses and the name “Martha.” She firmly believes who ever buys the book will also get the ghost! The Phantom Bookshop wants to pass the book along to some other owner. They can’t have things being moved about by unseen hands! They will place the haunted book on eBay. It’s a valuable book because its so hard to find, but more so now because it comes with a ghost! We will be updating you with the URL item on eBay and date. Keep tuned in for this one!

Richard Celebrates Birthday at Haunted Landmark 78.

The old Victorian home, now a restaurant, is well known for its ghostly forms in Ventura , California . The most seen specter is that of “ Rosa ” who haunts the ladies bathroom on the second floor. She is active this time of year so the haunted site was selected for a lavish birthday bash.

“ I find ghosts always haunt the better restaurants,” Mr. Senate remarked. He looked for the mysterious phantom lady but she was nowhere to be seen that night.

Terrible Premonition Reported! Danger lingers near Obama!

A friend of the Senates had a grim dream recently. He said it was very realistic. In his dream he saw Presidential candidate Senator Obama shot while giving a speech in Chicago . The shooter struck while the crowd was clapping. The TV commentator was in tears. Paramedics were there but it looked like a head shot and the Presidential contender was dead. Many have compared the young Obama to John and Bobby Kennedy. Perhaps he will share their terrible fate. Sadly, many Bllack leaders from Malcolm 'X' to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. were assassinated in their prime. Has anyone else had such a premonition? Special Walking tour of Haunted Ojai

On May 22^nd, from 2 to 4 PM, a special tour of ghostly places in the Ojai Valley will be lead by Richard Senate. The tour starts at the fountain a Libby Park and there is a fee of $16 per person for the tour. Reservations must be made via the Phantom Bookshop at phantom@phantoms.com or call John or Katie at 805-641-3844. The tour will be cancelled if there isn’t enough interest in the ghosts of the Ojai. A special added feature will attempt to communicate with one of the ghosts rumored to haunt the valley. Tell everyone you know this special tour will be scheduled this one time in the summer.

Saturday April 19, 2008 The Ghosts of Mission Santa Barbara 3:30 to 6:00 a special guided tour though the stories of ghosts and haunted things that go bump in the night at one of the iconic sites in the Golden West. Experiments in spirit communication and EVP as well as a chance to try to solve the riddle of the Lost woman of san Nicholas Island will be tried. Do take a camera along as many have captured bizarre images on this tour in the past. There is limited space for people to come on this tour. Be prepared to take part in the ghost hunt. Fee $45 per person or $80 per couple. A free map of haunted sites suitable for framing will be given to everyone who takes part. A chance to work with Debbie and Richard Senate one of the pioneer couples of psychic research.

Sunday May 11, 2008 12:30 to 4:30 pm The Ghosts of La Purisima Mission Lompoc . This restored mission is perhaps one of the most haunted in all of the American West. Come as we try to discover what happened here long ago to cause so many spirit to remain. Was it the 1824 battle that took so many likes? The epidemic of Smallpox or the cruel nature of Spanish rule that caused this to be so haunted. Attempts will be made to communicate with the ghosts here as well as efforts to capture EVP sounds. La Purisima has been called the place where the spirits sing and has been featured on such shows as America ’s Most Haunted. Students must provide their own transportation to the Mission in Lompoc . Fees: $55 per person $100 per couple.

Saturday May 31, 2008 12:30 to 3:30pm The Ghosts of William S. Hart Ranch, Newhall. Come tour the mansion of silent cowboy star William s. Hart with Richard and Debbie Senate and learn of her ghosts. Is there one or two? Why are so many homes of the silent greats haunted? Why do they seem to come back? Take part in experiments and see if you can discover what makes a person come back inspirit form. Do bring your camera and tape recorder. Fee $28 per person, 50 per couple.

SÉANCE. Come and sit down at a classic séance where Debbie Senate will use her mediumistic gifts to try to pierce the veil between our world and the next. These séances are not for the faint of heart and no guarantees can be made as to what will come though. A short talk will precede the experiment. There is an element of danger to these meetings—mostly to the medium. These are a number of experiments conducted by Richard and Debbie.

Fee: $88 per person or $ 160 per couple. The Séance is at least two hours and may go longer. DATES: Friday April 18, Sunday April 27, Sunday May 25, Sunday June 8. From 9:30 to 11:30 .
